Description
Sitting at my picnic table I heard a sharp, high-pitched whistle/chirp from my neighbors yard. When I looked over I could see one of the groundhogs that he never seems able to capture high-tailing it back under the porch.
After a few minutes I heard another chirp and looked back over to see a groundhog sitting up on the steps of the porch. Then I saw a little movement and heard the chirp/whistle again. It repeated it a few times and I realized that the groundhog was the one whistling!
Much to my surprise, many of my friends on Facebook had seen and/or heard of this before and said, "That's why they're called 'whistle pigs'." I guess that's why the groundhog/gopher in the Winnie the Pooh cartoons always had that lisp! [link]

How cute! It reminded me that my dad used to call them that. Brought back some nice memories....
